trends of technology and electronics in cycling - power meters, heart rate monitors, gps, garmin, strava, cell phones, e-bikes, electronic shifting, there are smart gears that shift for you, are these well overpriced gizmos and gadgets really necessary? why should we be slaves to what some chips say, why can't we just ride without all this unnecessary equipment? and why no body says anything about the negative side of this? the huge expense of buying unnecessary things for your bike? the added weight penalty? a lot of things beeping and buzzing all the time, ruining a pleasure ride, all this unnecessary stuff rattling on your bike making sounds, in case of crash, and we cyclists are taking heavy falling and crashes, just because this is part of the sport, so we have to pay an arm and a leg for a decent bike and on top of that twice that price, that for unnecessary overpriced electronic gizmos?
According to recent GMBN - Global Mountain Bike Network channel
question, vast majority of cyclists - 65% of cyclists say that all this
electronics is unnecessary. Do we really need it?
